$48.5M USAF PACAF Environmental Services and Construction IDIQ MATOC – Alaska, Hawaii, Wake Island Japan/Korea
Under this IDIQ MATOC work has been performed at 13 USAF installations under separate task orders. Services have included: Remedial action optimization and construction, long term monitoring, O&M, soil and groundwater investigations, removal actions, and studies. Many activities have been performed in ecologically sensitive areas.
Eielson AFB Remedial Action
Under this FFP Task Order, CES provide environmental engineering services, site characterization, groundwater investigations, and fuel related remediation at seven locations.
The remedial action construction project supported the F35 implementation program on Eielson AFB. As a result, the project had an aggressive project schedule to program’s construction timelines. Various activities were performed to maintain quality and meet the schedule.
To meet the schedule requirements, implemented remediation at multiple sites simultaneously. Also developed a central project management and data management hub that ensured project objectives were met in the most efficient manner. This included a robust sample and waste management tracking systems to enable positive centralized control during RA-C activities.
A significant challenge was a 6-month delay with the completion of a DD by others that covered six of the CRP sites. Overcame the delay by streamlining the planning and approval process by partnering with AFCEC and closely working with the regulators to establish the objectives, detail the project scope and identify any concerns that could impede approval.
Executed the project and successfully removed POL impacted soil located above the vadose zone eliminating the migration to GW pathway.
ADEC accepted the final completion report allowing the sites to continue on the path to closure as established by the USAF DD.
